From Port: Short walk uphill from main cruise ship port. If your ship is at the Pan Am dock you will have to take a cab to Old San Juan.

Review: Literally "The Hillbilly", this hole in the wall serves authentic Puerto Rican food in the criollo (creole) style. Well, from the street it is just an old door, but inside it is fairly large and very crowded  – it IS the place to eat in SJ, and we were the only Gringos there.  We had excellent beef stew and pork in a very garlicky plantain gravy with rice and black beans, etc.   $

Review: Walking into Old San Juan from the ship docked just at the foot of the north-south streets, we began our quest for the perfect Mojito. A Mojito is a rum drink, arguably invented in Florence or Havana, made by muddling mint leaves in a tall glass, adding ice, lime juice and light rum then topping with club soda. We had read that the Mojitos at the Parrot Club were the best in San Juan. Drinks only $.
