SHORE FOOD
CRUISE PORT DINING GUIDE

Bangkok

The ancient city of Bangkok reflects two major cultures - Chinese and Indian. This is reflected in the architecture, religion, customs and, of course, the food.

Cruise ships call at Laem Chabang, 130 km. (81 mi.) south of the city. So walking on shore and enjoying local food is difficult. Perhaps your cruise ship offers tours or shuttles. Hop off, wander the streets and find cuisine which is a delicious blend of Chinese and Indian influences:  spring rolls, noodles and three kinds of curry - yellow, green and red.

Street Food

Review: Try Thong Lo, next to the Thong Lo Bangkok Sky Train (BTS) stop, for a group of stalls selling all sorts of Thai dishes.

The Suan Lum Night Bazaar between the BTS Ratchadamri and Sala Daeng stations, or the Lumphini station on the MRTA subway, next to Lumphini Park also offers a good selection.

Chinatown
By far the largest ethnic group in Thailand, the Chinese brought with them their culture and cuisine. Most cooks in fine restaurants are Chinese.

Location: Yaowarat Road is your best bet.

Review: Pick any spot along the busy streets in this bustling neighborhood.

Tourist Spots
Located at many popular tourist spots, little kiosks offer satay and other Thai delicacies, plus beer and soda.
